Starting engines on a cold morning can be frustrating and sometimes impossible. Cold oil causes extra drag and slows the cranking speed. This a a greater problem for diesel engines. As the temperature goes down, so does battery capacity. A battery that is fully charged at 26C / 80F will have only about 46% available power at -18C / 0F. Plus, the engine will be 2.5 times harder to start at -18C / 0F degrees due to thicker oil and resistance to movement of internal moving parts. In effect, an engine is about five times harder to start at -18C / 0F than 26C / 80F.
Diesel fuel and bio-fuels will gel in cold temperatures. Gelled fuel in the filter can block the flow of fuel from the tank to the injector pump.
The solution to starting engines in cold weather is to have warm oil, a warm battery and warm fuel by installing an Engine Oil Heater, Battery Heater and Diesel Filter Heater, job done.
- Pre-Heat the complete engine, from the bottom up.
- Increases oil temperature from -40°F (-40°C) to +160°F (71°C).
- Faster engine cranking.
- Immediate oil pressure.
- Complete engine lubrication.
- Will not effect engine computer systems unlike block heaters.
- Consumes 50% less electricity than a block heater.
- Reduces emissions on start up.
